Who is this Course for?

These courses are physically demanding but they will prepare you to teach Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga with grace and precision.

Objective of the Course

The course is directed to training you in the techniques and teachings of Ashtanga Vinyasa, based on the teachings of Shri K. Pattabhi Jois, the creator of this style. Course work completes 200 hours and qualifies you to register Yoga Instructor with AIPYS

Course Structure

The course consists of:

  • 90 hours of technique, practice pedagogy.
    • Asanas
    • Sequences, progressions and vinyasas
    • Adaptations, substitutions and adjustments
  • 85 hours of pedagogical and pedagogical methodology.
    • Teaching practice
    • Design and direction of the sessions.
    • Teaching categories and methodology
    • Programming and scripts for instruction.
    • Relaxation
    • Adapting the class for beginners
  • 10 hours Yoga Philosophy and Ethics.
    • Meditation
  • 15 hours of anatomy and physiology.

Course Approach

Starts working with Sun Salutations A and B to continue the serie at Navasana stablishing a good base. Develop the simplest adjustments and adaptations to improve and advance your practice.

Will continue from Navasana until the end of the series including the final positions. This practice will consist of intermediate postures, and help will be given with the more advanced variations so that the instructor becomes an instructor capable of guiding their future students safely through the practice while achieving marked improvement.

The course remains faithful to the tradition and teachings of Ashtanga, but we have made this great practice more open and accessible to western students.

  • Mysore-style class personal practice.

  • Many modifications are offered so that all levels can enjoy the Ashtanga yoga method.

Wes (Shanmugananda) maintains a multi-vocal interpretation of the spiritual traditions while honouring their uniqueness. His views can be provocative but they are always enlightening. Wes emphasizes the importance of understanding the Yoga tradition and respecting the plurality of its world views. The approach is therefore not dogmatic but pluralistic.

Madhana - Manuel Agulla

He is the director of the Sananda Yoga Center in Vigo. Co-founder of the AIPYS. He is a trainer for trainers in teacher training courses. His extensive knowledge on the pedagogy of the postures, philosophy and tradition of yoga make the courses he teaches of special interest to the participants.

Esther Armero

Esther directs the Vinyasa flow postgraduate and is co-director in the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga training course. Teacher of; Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa, and Vinyasa Flow, her specialty in these styles means that in the training courses of Ashtanga Vinyasa or Vinyasa flow, participants enjoy the commitment to the practice and the delicacy that each of them stimulates and awakens in the practitioner.
